Stacking the Shelves #2

This week for my Stacking the Shelves post, I really am stacking the shelves (usually I buy more e-books than physical books, and receive more e-galleys and library books than I do physical ARCs). Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga's Reviews! This meme showcases the books received, bought, or checked out from the library over the course of the past week.

Since I was at the beach, I didn't get a chance to go to the library, and I also didn't spend enough time online to receive any e-galleys. However, I did have two ARCs in the mail when I returned home.

Joey guarded them for me until I got back.

These covers are gorgeous, so I want to let you guys see what they actually look like without my awesome photography skills.

Otherkin
By: Nina Berry
Release Date: 07/31/12
A big thank you to Kensington for sending me this ARC to review!
Synopsis from goodreads.com:
I thought I knew myself. Then I met Caleb.

Dez is a good girl who does as she’s told and tries not to be noticed.
Then she rescues a boy from a cage, and he tells her secrets about herself.
Now inside her burns a darkness that will transform her.

Everything is about to change -- and neither Caleb, nor the Otherkin, nor those who hunt them are prepared for what Dez will unleash.

Cold Fury
By: T.M. Goeglein
Release Date: 07/24/12
A big thank you to Penguin and Good Reads' First Reads contest!
Synopsis from goodreads.com:

Jason Bourne meets The Sopranos in this breathtaking adventure

Sara Jane Rispoli is a normal sixteen-year-old coping with school and a budding romance--until her parents and brother are kidnapped and she discovers her family is deeply embedded in the Chicago Outfit (aka the mob).

Now on the run from a masked assassin, rogue cops and her turncoat uncle, Sara Jane is chased and attacked at every turn, fighting back with cold fury as she searches for her family. It's a quest that takes her through concealed doors and forgotten speakeasies--a city hiding in plain sight. Though armed with a .45 and 96K in cash, an old tattered notebook might be her best defense--hidden in its pages the secret to "ultimate power." It's why she's being pursued, why her family was taken, and could be the key to saving all of their lives.

Action packed, with fresh, cinematic writing, Cold Fury is a riveting and imaginative adventure readers will devour.

What are you guys stacking your shelves with this week?!

    1. Yea, Joey likes to sit on books. I like to think that he absorbs either the story or the knowledge from them through his butt, haha! Thanks for stopping by! :D

    1. Me too! I'm a displaced Chicagoan (in North Carolina for school), and I'm super homesick, haha. Every time I see a book that's set in Chicago or mentions Chicago I have to have it. Thanks for stopping by! :D
