Stacking the Shelves #10

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by  Tynga's Reviews! This meme showcases the books received, bought, or checked out from the library over the course of the past week.

Sorry for the late post this week, guys. I was in Cherokee, NC, doing some field work with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians all weekend. I also attended the Festival of Native Peoples where I conducted even more research and also did things like this:

Yes, that's a real gator. The Florida Seminoles came up to demonstrate gator wrestling this year. It was fascinating to see, and I was lucky enough to get talked into holding a baby gator. Isn't he cute?! Ignore my sunburned, humid fuzzy haired self and just look at the babyyyyyy. Over ten nations were represented at this festival, and it was so much fun that I've already planned on attending again next year! Anyway, onto the books.

When Rachel’s father goes missing, she is desperate to search for him. But her attempts to flee the city bring her to the attention of its overbearing ruler. His efforts to control her make the world within the walls seem as dangerous as that outside.

Her only chance at escape is Logan. Once her father’s apprentice, and now her only protector, he feels that helping her might mean losing her completely. But if he can put his feelings aside, they might be able to save more than Rachel’s father. They might be able to break down the walls, and set their people free.

Ignore the clothes strewn about. I'd only halfway unpacked when I took these pics.

What are you guys stacking your shelves with this week!?

  1. Omigosh you've gotten so many awesome books. I've been itching for Ten & Shattered Souls since forever lol..oh by the way, cute cat, but creepy gator..oh brother that's a baby? those creatures are huge

    1. Shattered Souls is amazing! I'm adding it to my collection (I have it on Kindle already. I'm a book collector, haha) I haven't read Ten yet.

Thanks! The alligator belonged to the Florida Seminoles who were at the festival. They rescue gators and other reptiles in South Florida. After holding that baby and seeing them wrestle the gators, I'm not half as scared of gators as I used to be. They really aren't that bad as long as you leave them alone. However, the snakes they had horrified me.

  2. Great stack this week! I am really looking forward to reading Defiance. Come view our shelves if you have the chance.

  3. The baby gator!!!!! Awwwwwwwwwwwww!!! It's actually drop-dead adorable, if I look closely. and I always love how your cat appears in your book photos XD I'm seeing Defiance around a lot. Great haul, and happy reading!
