Feature and Follow #35

This is a meme hosted every Friday by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read, where book bloggers answer a question each week and check out how others answered it. It's a cool way for bloggers and viewers to connect and learn more about each other!

Please state in the post if you're a new follower or old follower. If you don't tell me that you are following, then I don't know that you are. Therefore, I'll not follow you back. I would like to follow each and every one of you back, so it is important that you clearly state that you are following me and not just stopping by. When someone says, "just saying hi!" or "just hopping through!" then I have no idea if you are following or not. That means that I may or may not return the visit, depending on how much time I have. The people who state they are following me will definitely get a visit and follow back. Also be sure to leave a link back to your blog, otherwise I won't know where to go to follow you! Thank you.

Q: Share something you’ve learned about book blogging or just blogging in general in the last month.

A: I've learned that if you don't actively update, then your number of followers diminishes. I have been so busy lately - graduation, hectic move, job search, then starting a new job - and I haven't had time to update as much until recently. I lost quite a few followers because of that :(

  1. Aw! Well, you're gaining a follower now :) New follower! I've learned the same thing. Once school starts, I'll be so busy, I don't know how I'll keep my blog going.

  2. I stay with a person unless they say something rude or hurtful to myself or anyone else then I will unfollow. I understand life gets in the way sometimes!!

  3. It's true, you can lose followers if you don't stay active or your schedule changes drastically. But I think it does help that if you need to take time off, put up a post and let everyone know you're going to be gone for a while. You'll still probably lose a few, but you'll find your true followers will stick with you.

Thanks for stopping by and I'm a new Bloglovin' follower :)

  4. You don't necessarily 'lose' the followers, but they might check your blog less often. I know I usually check blogs via bloglovin (as I do with yours - I'm a bloglovin follower) and if there is no new content, I won't go check out something I've already read... Of course, there are some who will unfollow if you're inactive for a while, but there will be new ones as well.

Here's my FF post for this week.

  7. Yes, that's true. I feel that way too. I just graduated and I am looking for a job too, plus I am visiting my sister and my time has been limited lately and my posts had been limited. But that's a price we have to pay, right?

    I am a new follower.

  8. I really like your rating system. It's much more in depth than a normal 5 star system. I won't stop following a blog I like for a brief lapse in content. New GFC follower. Thanks for stopping by my FF.

  9. I don't know if I'd completely unfollow, but I'd definitely check into the site less. I agree with the above comments about providing a heads up to readers about lags in updates. Though, that obviously doesn't help to keep daily view numbers up. That's what I like about the 'scheduled posts', but those also take time to prepare!

    1. Yea I always warn people and I always have some scheduled posts to fall back on. They were just skimpy lately, and I lost followers because of it. That's fine. I was just surprised because I never thought of things that way until it happened. It's a good lesson learned.

  10. I'm one of the people who unfollow if the person doesn't update in months... I like my lists clean if that makes sense. If they post once in a while that's fine, but if they don't post without any sort of message that they're taking a break, I stop. So in my opinion if you need time, at least say it so your followers won't think you abandoned them. :P

Old follower, thanks for stopping by!

    1. Haha, point taken. I always put up at least one message, and I also usually still update once or twice a week. I just drop off the memes and don't do as many reviews.

      Thanks for stopping by! :D

  11. Eeep, I can imagine that real life makes it difficult to review a lot when you have that much going on!

    I'm a new follower on bloglovin. :)

  16. You're absolutely right. I've come across this blogger who was contemplating on making a hiatus because she was so angry about losing 10-13 followers in a day.

What I do is to cue up posts ahead of time so I'll not worry about my blog being dormant for days. I'm a full time employee and an MS student so I can totally relate with you.

Thanks for the follow, following you back! :D

    1. Well along with the hectic schedule I was so sick that I was bedridden and almost had to be hospitalized. I was sick for over a month after everything else, so obviously my posts ran out long before that. In my opinion people should be more understanding, but everyone is different. As a previous commenter said, followers come and followers go. No need to worry about it now. I'm feeling better and getting caught up on my reading and posts.

What are you studying? I'm going back to school for my M.Ed next year. :)

  17. Loosing followers because of not updating for a little bit kinda sucks :( I mean we all have study, jobs or families to deal with, that often just sucks the time out reading & blogging. I personally wouldn't unfollow someone because they were going through a really busy patch in their lives - sometimes I think we could all be a little more understanding

Thanks for following - following back via Bloglovin
