Synopsis from goodreads.com:
Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.
If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.
But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.
Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
My thoughts on the book:
Deity is action-packed and full of romance, intrigue, and suspense. I could not put this book down, and I was up until 3am reading it when I had to wake up at the crack of dawn the next day and drive 10 hours. Not a good combination. However, this book was definitely worth the sacrifice. Alex grows a ton as a character, the book has plenty of Aiden and Seth, so no matter which team you're on, you'll be happy. Also, there are some pretty amazing surprises. You will not be disappointed with this installment of the Covenant series, but you will be begging for the next book as soon as you finish this one. It's just that good.
Alex's character growth was amazing to me. She started trying to think instead of just running head first into a bunch of stupid, and she also became more selfless. A lot of that was Aiden's influence. He kept an eye on her quite a bit, but she made some good decisions for herself. She spent a lot of this novel extremely terrified of her Awakening, and I can't blame her. She still tried to do what was best for everyone, though.
The relationships between Aiden and Alex and Seth and Alex got a lot more complicated in this novel. I have also switched from team Seth to team Aiden. I'm not going to tell you why, but Aiden really won me over this time. I also like Marcus better now that I got to see a little more of his personality.
The plot was amazingly captivating, and action and suspense were nonstop. I could not have put this book down, even if I'd wanted to! So many people are out to get Alex that it's impossible to tell who is on her side and who wants her dead. Many of the characters aren't who we thought they were, and there are a lot of surprises. There are also a lot of attempts on Alex's life. Additionally, the pacing was perfect. All of that makes for a quick and enthralling read.
My only complaint with this book is that it ends on a cliffhanger. I want the next installment now, haha. I'm not very patient, so the wait is already killing me. I'm in for a rough road before Apollyon is released.
Overall, I'd recommend this book (and series) to anyone. Jennifer L. Armentrout is one of my favorite authors, and Deity does not disappoint. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Interview with Alex:
Interview with Alex:
Amber: Hi Alex, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to be here today! What are you top favorite things about Seth?
Alex: My top favorite things about Seth? I can tell you my fav three. Ah, okay. I'd have to go with his face as being one, because he's really pretty to look at. His sense of humor and his strength.
Amber: What are your least favorite things about him?
Alex: My three least favorite things have to be his: attitude, arrogance, and his strength. Yeah, I know I listed his strength as something I liked, but I also hate it because he can usually kick my butt, and that sucks.
Amber: And Aiden? Top and least favorite things?
What I like about Aiden is his loyalty, inner strength, and of course, he's really great to stare at. I also like how clear minded he can be. Biggest dislike? His stubbornness.

Amber: What do you like most about being an Apollyon?
Alex: I get to control the fifth element. That is pretty cool.
Amber: What is your biggest regret?
Alex: I have more than one big regret.
Amber: Do you ever wish that you were a full-blood?
Alex: I used to, when I was little, but not so much now.
Amber: If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only have three things with you, what would you pick?
Alex: Cell phone. Laptop. Endless energy supply
Amber: What song reminds you of Aiden?
Alex: Some Devil by Dave Matthews
Amber: What song reminds you of Seth?
Alex: No Light. No Light by Florence and the Machines
Amber: What's your favorite color?
